    About the role#

    The Nashville Public Library Foundation is looking for a Social Media Student Worker to help share the story of the library and the people it serves. This paid, part-time position is designed for a student who wants hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing. You will work under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications to create content, manage community engagement, and update website information. This role provides an opportunity to build a professional portfolio through work on live campaigns and events.

    What you'll do#

    • Capture photo and short-form video content at library and foundation events.
    • Draft social media copy and build graphics using approved templates.
    • Schedule posts and monitor comments, messages, and tags daily.
    • Engage with community and partner accounts to build relationships.
    • Help assemble social media toolkits for board members and ambassadors.
    • Make basic updates to the website, such as posting news or refreshing event calendars.
    • Review site pages to ensure links are active and information is current.
    • Track engagement metrics and participate in marketing team meetings.
    • Organize and tag media files in the shared library.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Lipscomb University program, preferably in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, or graphic design.
    • Experience as a creator on major social platforms, with a portfolio of past work strongly preferred.
    • Strong writing, spelling, and grammar skills.
    • Ability to shoot and edit photos and short-form video on a phone.
    • Familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.
    • Experience with a website content management system or a willingness to learn one.
    • Reliable transportation to library locations across Davidson County.
    • Comfort interacting with the public at events.
    • Dependability, sound judgment, and an interest in literacy or the nonprofit sector.

    Location & details#

    • This role is based primarily at the Main Library in Nashville, Tennessee, with travel to branch locations and event venues required.
    • Some remote work may be available for tasks like scheduling and editing.
    • The schedule is 20 hours per week, flexible around your classes.
    • Occasional evening and weekend work is required for event coverage.
