About the role#
As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will support the design, development, and validation of electronic hardware for our connected IoT solutions. You will work alongside our engineering teams on new product development and enhancements to existing systems. This role offers hands-on experience with hardware design processes, circuit analysis, and testing methodologies.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the design, development, and testing of electronic hardware and embedded systems.
- Support hardware validation by conducting tests, collecting data, and documenting results.
- Help evaluate prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and verify design improvements.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, quality, and product engineering teams.
- Create and maintain hardware documentation, test procedures, schematics, and technical reports.
- Participate in laboratory testing and set up test equipment.
- Analyze test results to identify opportunities for product improvements.
- Support investigations into hardware performance, reliability, and functionality.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and engineering discussions.
- Present project outcomes and recommendations to engineering leadership at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering (sophomore, junior, or senior standing preferred).
- A basic understanding of electrical circuits, electronics, and engineering fundamentals.
- Familiarity with circuit analysis and electronic components through coursework or projects.
- Interest in hardware design, IoT technologies, and embedded systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Exposure to laboratory equipment and testing processes is a plus.
- Beneficial experience includes work with microcontrollers, PCB design tools, schematic capture, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and communication protocols like SPI, I2C, or UART.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site at our headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.
- We do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
