About the role#
LATYS is seeking a motivated PhD student to conduct research at the intersection of academic study and industrial application. Based at Polytechnique Montréal under the supervision of Professor Güneş Karabulut Kurt, this role focuses on designing, implementing, and validating hardware-based experimental systems. You will work within the Poly-Grames Research Centre, utilizing advanced laboratory equipment to bridge the gap between theoretical models and real-world wireless technology.
What you'll do#
- Conduct PhD-level research with a focus on hardware implementation and experimental validation.
- Design, develop, and test hardware-oriented experimental platforms and prototypes.
- Manage hardware and software integration, system configuration, debugging, and performance evaluation.
- Analyze experimental results and connect findings to research objectives, simulations, and theoretical models.
- Document technical work and contribute to research publications, project reports, and deliverables.
- Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on experimental research activities.
What you'll need#
- Strong hands-on experience with hardware platforms, experimental systems, or laboratory implementation.
- Experience in at least one of the following: FPGA, SDR, embedded systems, RF systems, or digital signal processing.
- Proficiency in programming or hardware design languages such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Verilog, or VHDL.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot practical hardware and software issues independently.
- Strong motivation to pursue doctoral research that combines theoretical and experimental components.
- Academic background in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.
