About the role#
The WinField United Summer Research Technician internship offers hands-on experience with agronomic research plots. You will support the Answer Plot Program by helping farmers understand how seed and crop protection products perform in local fields. This role is based in River Falls, Wisconsin, and runs from May through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planting test plots and conducting field research.
- Identify weeds and insects while using scouting techniques to evaluate weed control and research trials.
- Mix pesticides for trials and maintain accurate product inventory.
- Collect and input data from research activities.
- Maintain equipment and keep the work environment clean and safe.
- Participate in required training and complete daily tasks with integrity.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor degree, preferably in an agriculture-related field.
- Ability to obtain a Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within two weeks of your start date.
- A valid, unrestricted driver license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Comfort driving various vehicles in different road and weather conditions.
- Capability to lift and carry items weighing 50-60 lbs and work while wearing personal protective equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours, travel, and stay overnight as needed.
- Strong time management, basic math skills, and the ability to work without direct supervision.
- Technical knowledge in agronomy, crop sciences, or agribusiness experience is preferred.

- Compensation: $22 - $24 per hour, based on skills and experience.
