About the role#
This is a 16-month, full-time, paid co-op position starting in May 2027. You will work alongside senior engineers to solve technical problems, perform analysis, and contribute to the mechanical design of optical sensor and targeting systems.
What you'll do#
- Provide mechanical design, analysis, and testing support for new and existing products.
- Generate technical drawings and bills of materials.
- Complete assignments of moderate scope as part of larger projects.
- Assist senior staff with technical tasks and participate in design reviews.
- Support the verification and validation of new product designs.
- Implement changes to documentation, technical drawings, parts, and assemblies.
- Design cabling wire harnesses, including physical routing and verification.
- Contribute to the definition of departmental best practices and monitor mechanical industry trends.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Current enrollment and good standing in an accredited university co-op program.
- Ability to commit to a 16-month term.
- Experience with a solid modeling CAD package, preferably SolidWorks.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills developed through coursework or experience.
- Strong mathematical, analysis, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) clearance.
