About the role#
This internship provides accounting support to the Financial Reporting and Investment Accounting teams at Kuvare Holdings. You will gain hands-on experience across various areas of insurance accounting through rotations between these departments. This role is intended for students majoring in accounting who want to apply their foundational knowledge to real-world tasks.
What you'll do#
- Prepare account reconciliations for cash, investments, suspense, assets, and liabilities.
- Research the general ledger and prepare or post journal entries.
- Assist in preparing quarterly financial statements on both GAAP and Statutory bases.
- Gather and compile data for quarterly Board Reporting.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to collect essential information.
- Review and verify standard operating procedures to improve process documentation.
- Analyze monthly investment data including yields, security master data, NAIC ratings, and accrual calculations.
- Use the Bloomberg Terminal for research and data validation.
- Support MAR control processes and perform clerical accounting tasks.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a BA or AA degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.
- Experience with MS Office and exposure to financial systems.
- Ability to manage multiple data points and deadlines with accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with team members.
- Prior experience or coursework in insurance, investments, or financial reporting is a plus.
- Knowledge of general ledgers and reporting tools.
