    About the role#

    As a Mining Applications Engineering Intern, you will support the Mining Applications Engineering team with the sales and application of surface mining equipment. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on real-world projects alongside regional and global teams, with opportunities for mentorship from subject-matter experts.

    What you'll do#

    • Support operations application analysis for drills, draglines, loaders, shovels, and haulage operations.
    • Conduct equipment selection and production estimates.
    • Track Komatsu equipment production rates to maintain a database of customer rates.
    • Generate Total Cost of Ownership models and conduct mining equipment value analysis.
    • Assist with Repair and Maintenance Program contract studies and cost per hour evaluations.
    • Support New Product Development and Continuous Improvement project studies.
    • Create marketing and technical presentation materials.
    • Present your work results to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Participate in field study projects as regional demands allow.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuing a bachelor or advanced degree in Mining, Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (Mining Engineering preferred).
    • Rising Junior or Senior status in good academic standing.
    • Basic knowledge of mining equipment including draglines, drills, shovels, wheel loaders, and haulage operations.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data tools like Excel, PowerBI, or Power Apps.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to explain complex procedures to diverse teams.
    • Previous internship or project experience in the mining industry.

    • Locations: Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Peoria, Illinois; or Longview, Texas.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
