About the role#
This is a 6-month internship at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. You will rotate through various food and beverage outlets to gain experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. The role provides exposure to service standards, associate training, inventory management, and administrative tasks like scheduling and menu development.
What you'll do#
- Monitor restaurant floor activity and manage communication between front and back of house teams.
- Train in all restaurant positions to understand daily operations.
- Assist managers with payroll, labor controls, cover forecasting, and scheduling.
- Lead opening and closing procedures for your assigned outlet.
- Manage inventory counts, product requisitions, and waste reduction.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and attend weekly team meetings.
- Handle administrative duties such as purchasing, invoicing, and records filing.
- Reconcile operational paperwork including vendor invoices and guest receipts.
- Oversee dining room flow and resolve guest concerns.
- Perform duties of servers, bartenders, and hosts as needed.
- Execute special projects and assignments as directed by department managers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a college or university degree program for Hospitality or Resort Management.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Previous food and beverage experience is preferred.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Kohler, Wisconsin.
- Schedule: This is a part-time position requiring availability from May through October 2027.
- Shifts: Vary between 6:00 am and 10:00 pm, including weekdays and weekends.
- Compensation: The hourly rate is $12.80 to $20.00, depending on education and experience.
