About the role#
This internship supports the Containerboard division at the Georgia-Pacific manufacturing facility in Monticello, Mississippi. You will join the Process Engineering department to support pulping, recycling, paper machine, and utilities teams. This is a paid, full-time position available during the Winter and Fall 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Support operating teams to optimize processes and maximize value creation.
- Lead process improvement initiatives and troubleshoot process upsets.
- Support routine outages and complete process testing.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and lower process variability.
- Champion capital projects within the production area.
- Increase operator knowledge of processes and build relationships with staff.
- Perform routine testing of key process variables to ensure instrumentation accuracy.
- Work with the Collaboration and Support Center to statistically analyze processes, develop operating envelopes, and build predictive models.
- Manage chemical and process changes or trials.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a physical science.
- Understanding of safe work practices.
- Ability to lead safety by example.
