    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site at the Kansas City Service Center in Riverside, Missouri. The role involves working both individually and within project teams to support manufacturing operations for freight rail braking systems. You will receive regular feedback throughout the summer and prepare a final presentation for company leadership.

    What you'll do#

    • Evaluate product improvement and cost optimization projects by conducting trials, developing plans, and writing reports.
    • Monitor, analyze, and optimize process quality, conditions, and variability.
    • Provide engineering support to increase manufacturing capacity while improving safety and quality.
    • Support capital project work from the initial scoping phase through installation under technical supervision.
    • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups.
    • Contribute to plant studies and the design of project installations.
    • Support production process continuous improvement using operational excellence tools.

    What you'll need#

    • You are entering your Junior year of undergraduate study.
    • You are pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
    • You maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
    • Familiarity with 5S methodology and Lean manufacturing principles.
    • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.

    • Location: Riverside, Missouri.
    • Duration: Mid-May through mid-August.
    • Schedule: 40 hours per week.
