About the role#
Knorr-Bremse AG is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer Intern to join our team in Grain Valley, Missouri. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. You will work on-site to support our quality planning and product validation processes.
What you'll do#
- Support quality planning and validation for mechanical components and assemblies.
- Assist with product inspection, testing, and evaluation to ensure we meet engineering specifications.
- Help with First Article Inspection (FAI), PPAP, and general supplier quality tasks.
- Review engineering drawings, tolerance requirements, and perform dimensional analysis.
- Collect and report quality data using statistical and problem-solving techniques.
- Assist the team with root cause investigations when product or process non-conformities arise.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams on continuous improvement projects to reduce defects.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, and reports.
- Use 3D CAD models to support product and quality evaluations.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality engineering principles.
- Knowledge of mechanical design, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX, Creo, or SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with common metrology tools for measurement and inspection.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude with tools, equipment, or lab testing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well both independently and in a team.
