About the role#
This is a co-op position for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. You will work within the Product R&D Centers of Excellence to support new product development and current product support. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Avon, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Conduct advanced product concept research and development.
- Design and build hardware and software for test fixtures.
- Validate products and troubleshoot issues in both laboratory and vehicle environments.
- Manage inventory, assemble components, and coordinate testing efforts with technicians.
- Participate in product phase reviews, DFMEAs, and project management tasks.
- Perform root cause analysis to resolve equipment reliability issues.
- Develop special systems and modules.
- Conduct materials analysis and testing.
- Use CAD/CAE analysis and PLM systems.
- Support product application development, road tests, and customer demos.
- Work with customers and suppliers on new product development.
- Translate customer requirements into new product specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university with a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.
- Major in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronic Engineering with a dual major or minor in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Experience with design tools such as Pro-Engineer, NX Solid Modeling, and TeamCenter PLM.
- Knowledge of FMEA, Six Sigma, 5S, and instrumentation methods.
- Familiarity with operating systems including Linux, Macintosh, and Windows.
- Experience with analysis tools like MATLAB, Minitab, Dasylab, and AMESim.
- Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and simple electronic systems.
- Familiarity with HTML and Visual Basic.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical tools, shop equipment, and trucks.
