About the role#
This co-op position supports our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team in Avon, Ohio. You will work directly with plant personnel, engineering teams, and other departments to maintain safety standards and environmental compliance. This is a full-time, on-site role that involves hands-on participation in our daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement programs focused on employee safety, ergonomics, emergency response, and sustainability.
- Join new equipment launch teams to handle job hazard analysis, machine guarding assessments, and HSE regulatory permitting.
- Investigate workplace injuries, environmental incidents, and property loss events to help resolve them.
- Track, analyze, and report on safety and environmental metrics.
- Assist with ongoing HSE process improvement projects.
- Support ISO14001 implementation and auditing efforts.
- Participate in corporate audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements.
- Create training materials and organize employee engagement events to promote safety awareness.
- Act as a liaison between plant HSE staff and engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Analytical skills and the ability to build trust with team members.
- Ability to travel within the United States, with potential travel to Mexico or Canada.
- Familiarity with statistical tools is preferred.
