Knife River Corporation is seeking a Safety/Industrial Hygienist Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, paid internship provides hands-on experience in the construction and materials industry, focusing on safety culture, regulatory compliance, and industrial hygiene practices.
What you'll do#
- Assist the safety team with daily tasks, incident management, and reporting requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of exposure control plans and hazard assessments under the guidance of the Lead Industrial Hygienist.
- Operate and maintain industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, including air sampling pumps, noise dosimeters, and gas detectors.
- Collaborate with operations and field safety teams to ensure compliance with OSHA and NIOSH regulations.
- Complete safety trainings and create safety plans.
- Familiarize yourself with product-line-specific safety best practices for ready-mix and asphalt plants.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for the industrial hygiene program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a higher education degree program, specifically in Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or Industrial Engineering.
- A strong interest in the materials and construction industry.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen.
- A professional and courteous attitude when working with team members.
