    About the role#

    This is a seasonal internship position based in Grand Forks, North Dakota, for the Summer 2026 term. The role involves working on-site to ensure material quality through laboratory testing and data analysis.

    What you'll do#

    • Safely collect material samples, including crushed stone, aggregate, sand, or gravel.
    • Perform laboratory tests on aggregate and concrete, such as gradations, shales, percent crushed, air, slump, and unit weight.
    • Compile statistical data on test results and perform necessary arithmetic operations to report findings.
    • Examine and evaluate data to determine material quality in relation to specifications and present alternative actions based on these evaluations.
    • Conduct finished and in-process inspections while maintaining laboratory equipment.
    • Ensure all work activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and safety and environmental regulations.
    • Communicate findings effectively and maintain positive professional relationships.

    What you'll need#

    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education with a grasp of grammar and arithmetic.
    • Ability to maintain a proper license and an acceptable driving record.
    • Current enrollment in a Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering program.
    • Minimum equipment operation experience.
    • Experience as an Aggregate or Concrete Tester is desired.
    • Ability to travel as required by the role.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota.
    • Schedule: Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with Saturday work required as needed (7:00 AM to 12:00 PM). Hours may fluctuate based on weather conditions and customer demand.
    • Employment status: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Note: This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
