About the role#
As a PLM BI & Analytics Intern, you will support strategic initiatives across data governance, artificial intelligence, analytics, product lifecycle management, and enterprise resource planning. You will work within the IT group to improve business productivity by connecting people, processes, and technology. This role involves high-impact work that directly supports business decision-making and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Support governance initiatives for product, BOM, part, supplier, customer, and manufacturing data.
- Define and document data governance processes, policies, standards, and business rules.
- Assist with data cataloging, metadata management, data lineage, and business glossary initiatives.
- Participate in data quality assessments and root cause analysis.
- Assist data stewards and owners in maintaining critical business data domains.
- Gather and document business requirements from engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and service teams.
- Support mapping of business processes across PLM and ERP systems.
- Conduct gap analysis and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Support workshops, stakeholder meetings, and interviews.
- Analyze data flows between PLM, ERP, data warehouse, and analytics platforms.
- Assist in identifying use cases for AI, machine learning, and analytics.
- Support data preparation, profiling, and validation.
- Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making.
- Analyze trends, patterns, and key performance indicators.
- Evaluate data readiness for AI and analytics initiatives.
- Develop presentations and executive summaries for leadership.
- Create and maintain project documentation, process diagrams, and reports.
- Support governance committees and project teams with meeting notes and action tracking.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, generative AI, or large language models.
- Exposure to PLM and ERP systems and data models.
- Familiarity with data governance platforms like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or Microsoft Purview.
- Familiarity with ETL, data integration, APIs, or cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience creating dashboards in Power BI or Tableau.
- Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other data analytics tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to interpret business requirements and convert them into actionable insights.
- Comfort working with structured and unstructured data.
- Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with business and technical teams.
