About the role#
As a Survey Intern with Kiewit, you will gain hands-on experience in both the field and the office. This role provides exposure to the core functions of a surveying career within the heavy civil construction industry. You will work alongside our project teams to support infrastructure projects, including transportation and structural concrete work.
What you'll do#
- Follow the project survey plan for field operations.
- Maintain accurate records, field procedures, and survey audits.
- Process field data using specialized software.
- Take accurate and legible field notes.
- Perform the setting and maintenance of the control network.
- Communicate regularly with the project surveying team.
- Follow all field safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in surveying or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, typically from May through August.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to travel and relocate as business needs require.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Lone Tree, Colorado (with travel and relocation required based on project needs).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
