About the role#
Kiewit is seeking a Structural Design Intern to join the Industrial & Water Engineering team in Lenexa, Kansas. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work on-site to support our design group by maintaining project standards and contributing to the success of our engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate with team members to review and exchange project information.
- Collaborate with engineers and various disciplines to build BIM models for steel structures and foundations.
- Create plans, drawings, and details using Building Information Modeling software.
- Assist in the development of department tools and design standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Aided Design & Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency with computer-aided drafting programs such as Revit, AutoCAD, or NavisWorks.
- Basic knowledge of current computer operating systems.
- Working knowledge of databases and spreadsheets.
- Ability to interpret multi-discipline engineering and vendor documents.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members.
- Ability to complete assignments on time and represent the company in a professional manner.
- Availability to travel to a project site for a tour if required.
