About the role#
As an Equipment Engineer Intern, you will support Regional Construction and Mining operations. This role focuses on the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reliability of a construction and mining equipment fleet. You will handle both daily tasks and long-term fleet management, with a primary goal of improving equipment reliability and managing preventative maintenance programs.
What you'll do#
- Comply with all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Manage material handling, procurement, and logistics.
- Create and maintain tool and filter lists and documentation.
- Perform inspections of equipment and parts.
- Assist with long and short range equipment planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Prepare paperwork for critical lifts.
- Use reliability and failure analysis data to increase equipment availability.
- Support craft maintenance technicians by ordering parts, managing inventory, and scheduling crews.
- Communicate between all levels of supervision and management.
- Complete specialty projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Diesel Technology, or Automotive Technology.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, approximately May through August.
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Capacity to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
- Commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and interact professionally with others.
