About the role#
As an Electrical Design Coordinator Intern, you will join our team to support the construction process. You will contribute to design engineering, perform and review electrical calculations, and develop plans. This role focuses on meeting client needs while mitigating risk to keep construction crews safe.
What you'll do#
- Check manufacturer wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and data sheets.
- Research and analyze requirements from engineering standards, contracts, and proposals.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations and drawings that follow established standards.
- Provide draft equipment specifications for major electrical equipment.
- Perform bid evaluations and coordinate electrical equipment contracts directly with vendors.
- Maintain engineering records and lists.
- Develop and manage cable and termination information using plant design software.
- Coordinate work with engineers, designers, project managers, construction personnel, and vendors.
- Develop familiarity with departmental design standards, codes, and policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree program in Electrical Engineering.
- A cumulative GPA above 3.0 is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in power systems engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work productively, meet deadlines, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Capability to interact effectively and professionally in a team environment.
