About the role#
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is looking for a Design Intern to join our Digital Delivery Group for the Fall 2026 term. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to support infrastructure projects, focusing on the transition from design to construction. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Lone Tree, Colorado.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop civil designs for infrastructure projects.
- Support ongoing construction activities on Kiewit projects.
- Use Civil 3D software to produce designs for estimate and construction documents.
- Participate in design reviews to evaluate concepts and provide recommendations.
- Track and maintain the status of assigned tasks on the team schedule.
- Follow company CAD and quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer-Aided Design, Engineering Technology, Construction Management with a BIM focus, or a similar program.
- Experience in basic civil CAD design and the production of design documents.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, including the ability to create surfaces, alignments, profiles, and sections.
- Experience with Revit or Navisworks.
- General knowledge of engineering principles and materials related to civil or geotechnical work.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents.
- Strong critical thinking, planning, and conceptualization skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to identify design conflicts and discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Previous construction experience is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to working safely and following all oral and written instructions.
