About the role#
KCI is seeking a student for a Structural Engineer Internship with the Bridge Structures team for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position based in Sparks, Maryland. The internship requires a commitment of at least 10 weeks between mid-May and late August. You will work under the guidance of a dedicated supervisor and mentor while participating in planned team activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications for bridges.
- Support structural modeling and analysis tasks.
- Participate in field inspections, including data collection, reporting, and documentation.
- Review construction and shop drawings to ensure they meet design intent.
- Join engineers on site visits to observe construction progress and verify field conditions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Help prepare project reports, cost estimates, and proposals.
- Gain exposure to industry design standards and requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited college engineering program.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
