About the role#
K1 Investment Management is seeking an AI Automation Intern to join the founding AI team in Manhattan Beach, California. This role reports directly to a Founding Partner and focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, enterprise software, and private equity operations. Interns will work on shipping automations and building tools to drive impact across a portfolio of over 275 companies.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and deploy AI-powered automations using Claude and Microsoft 365.
- Rapidly prototype AI tools and agents, iterating based on user feedback.
- Build internal dashboards, data pipelines, and agentic workflows for investment professionals.
- Evaluate emerging AI models, tools, and frameworks to provide recommendations for the investment team.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Open to May 2026 graduates and 2027-2028 graduates based in the Los Angeles area.
- At least one prior internship or substantive project experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or data science.
- Proficiency with Claude as a daily working tool, including prompt engineering and multi-step workflows.
- Proficiency in Python or JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.

- Location: Manhattan Beach, California.
- Modality: On-site (2-3 days per week).
- Status: Full-time, paid internship with rolling start dates.
