About the role#
The Automation Specialist Co-Op provides hands-on support for manufacturing automation and operational technology systems within a regulated MedTech environment. You will work alongside automation engineers and cross-functional teams to assist with equipment reliability, system testing, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills while contributing to automation projects from startup to routine maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Support automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
- Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, sensors, industrial communications, computers, and networks.
- Support PLC and HMI programming, testing, and documentation.
- Assist with data collection, system backups, reliability assessments, and routine system checks.
- Participate in automation projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, procedures, and test records.
- Support design reviews, risk assessments, vendor interactions, and cross-functional meetings.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, IT, and external suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, cybersecurity, data integrity, and regulated-system requirements.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least your freshman year at an accredited university.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Industrial, Software, Automation, Robotics, or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Must remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the term.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and technical documentation skills.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Location & details#
- Location: Añasco, Puerto Rico.
- Modality: This is an on-site role requiring five days per week in the office.
- Term: Full-time (40 hours per week) from January through December 2027.
