About the role#
This is a part-time, project-based opportunity for a doctoral student to gain practical experience in applied research and evaluation. You will work alongside a faculty Principal Investigator on initiatives focused on improving outcomes for youth through data-informed decision-making. The role involves mixed-methods research including qualitative inquiry, process evaluation, and collaborative data interpretation.
What you'll do#
- Support mixed-methods research activities like interviews, focus groups, surveys, and observations.
- Manage research data by cleaning, organizing, and preparing information for analysis.
- Conduct qualitative coding and thematic analysis.
- Assist with quantitative analysis, including descriptive statistics and trend analysis.
- Map processes and document workflows, partnerships, and project dynamics.
- Synthesize research findings to align with evaluation questions and learning objectives.
- Create reports, learning briefs, presentations, and data visualizations.
- Translate technical findings into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Participate in project meetings and collaborative sensemaking sessions.
- Maintain project documentation and complete deliverables on time.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Current enrollment in a doctoral program in fields such as Psychology, Public Health, or Business Administration.
- Graduate-level experience with qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods research methodologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with diverse or underserved populations.
- Knowledge of equity-centered, participatory, or community-engaged research approaches.
- Familiarity with tools like NVivo, SPSS, or R is preferred.
- Previous experience in program evaluation, applied research, or community-based research is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a fully remote position based in the United States.
- Compensation is $20.00 per hour.
- This is a part-time, project-based student worker role.
- Student positions are generally limited to 1,000 hours per year.
