About the role#
This is a 6-month engineering project internship based at the James Avery manufacturing facility in Hondo, Texas. The intern will work alongside experienced professionals to support manufacturing initiatives, specifically focusing on CAD fixture development, equipment validation, and process efficiency improvements.
What you'll do#
- Assist with validating new equipment sets and technologies while defining working procedures for manufacturing associates.
- Perform 3D jewelry scanning, 3D printing, fixturing assembly, and laser system programming.
- Review safety features of new equipment and collaborate with the training department on documentation.
- Observe manufacturing processes and recommend improvements for quality and efficiency.
- Conduct engineering time studies using basic statistics.
- Review routings and work instructions for assigned product designs.
- Participate in continuous improvement meetings and prepare progress reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, Biomedical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Intermediate CAD experience, with preference for Fusion 360 or SolidWorks and experience with mesh bodies and surfacing.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and manage frequent interruptions.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
- Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to interpret technical drawings and use precision tools.
