Paper Mill Engineering Student Co-op

About the role#

J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking an Engineering Student Co-op to join the team in Toronto for the Fall 2026 term. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position focused on supporting operations and engineering initiatives within the paper manufacturing environment.

What you'll do#

• Lead projects centered on design, process improvement, and optimization.
• Collaborate with Operations and Engineering departments to implement and refine systems and processes.
• Perform data gathering, investigation, and analysis to support team problem-solving exercises.
• Contribute to site-wide initiatives regarding Safety, Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement.
• Adhere to all site safety practices.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program for Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Availability for an 8-month co-op term.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
