Junior Electrical Engineer or Technologist, Co-op

About the role#

Fleetway Inc. is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer or Technologist for a co-op position in Ottawa, Ontario, for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports the engineering team in delivering technical services for Canada’s National Shipbuilding Strategy and the Halifax Class Design Agent contracts. You will work alongside naval architects and engineers on diverse projects spanning government, military, commercial, and industrial sectors.

What you'll do#

• Assist with technical studies, single‑line diagrams, schematics, specifications, and 3D models.
• Support the preparation of technical reports, ECIDs, ECIPs, and engineering change proposals.
• Conduct engineering analysis, including electrical calculations for load, voltage drop, and short-circuit, as well as cable sizing and basic finite element analysis.
• Assist with equipment selection and systems integration activities.
• Develop 3D models of ship equipment and compartment arrangements.
• Prepare cable run and pull sheets.
• Perform quality control reviews of drawings and technical deliverables.
• Support naval electrical system design under the guidance of senior engineers.

What you'll need#

• Current enrolment in an Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree or an Electrical Engineering Technology diploma program.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD.
• Interest in Rhino or other 3D modeling software.
• Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Canadian Government Security Clearance.
