J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking an Engineering Student Co-op to join the paper mill team in Toronto. This is a full-time, on-site position for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers the opportunity to work within a manufacturing environment and contribute to ongoing site operations.
What you'll do#
- Lead projects focused on design, process improvement, and optimization.
- Collaborate with Operations and Engineering departments to implement and refine systems and processes.
- Participate in team problem-solving by gathering data, conducting investigations, and performing analysis.
- Contribute to site initiatives regarding safety, quality, production, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Adhere to all site safety practices at all times.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Availability for an 8-month co-op term.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is considered an asset.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.

- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Compensation: $26.27 - $28.47 per hour, based on grade level.
- Additional Benefits: Co-op fee reimbursement up to $1000, if eligible; opportunities for job-related training and development.
