About the role#
As an Industrial Engineering student, you will join our team in Halifax to help design and improve the tools, workstations, and processes used in ship construction and repair. You will work on real-world projects, applying scientific methods to solve problems and implement improvements. You will be supported by mentors as you learn to use methodologies like Six Sigma and the Irving Way of Shipbuilding. We will cover up to $1000 of your co-op fees.
What you'll do#
- Manage your scope of work, including developing performance metrics, capacity analysis, material flow, and visual management.
- Author processes and procedures to document how to stabilize and control work in ship design and repair.
- Identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Help manage mitigation plans for risks related to engineering activities.
- Support the facilitation of workshops and business updates.
- Use change principles to engage stakeholders and implement new processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree program.
- Between 0 and 2 years of experience.
- Strong analytical problem solving and data analysis skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
