About the role#
This is a full-time co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on-site in Halifax, NS, gaining hands-on experience in facilities engineering within the shipbuilding industry. Irving Shipbuilding covers co-op program fees up to $1,000 for student hires.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Facilities Engineering team on design and construction solutions.
- Track project cost, schedule, scope, and quality metrics.
- Perform on-site inspections to verify construction progress and update facility documentation.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Support daily operations through engineering analyses.
- Initiate and contribute to strategic engineering studies for long-term planning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program in any discipline.
- Up to 2 years of experience in facilities, infrastructure, or construction.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook and Excel.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar design and markup tools.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to solve problems and work collaboratively.

- Security requirements: All applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
