About the role#
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technology students to join the Pulp & Paper Division for the Fall 2026 work term. This position offers exposure to all aspects of the electrical and instrumentation trades within a safety-focused industrial environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist qualified tradespeople with daily maintenance and operational activities.
- Support the troubleshooting and programming of distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Participate in the installation and maintenance of control equipment.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance, continuous improvement, and process improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 3-year Electrical, Controls and Technology program with good academic standing and a High School Diploma.
- Availability for full-time work from September to December 2026.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience in the pulp and paper or heavy industry sectors is considered an asset.

- Locations: Saint John, NB and Utopia, NB.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September to December).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
