About the role#
J.D. Irving, Limited is seeking Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Technology students for the Fall 2026 work term within the Pulp & Paper Division. This position offers hands-on experience in a safety-conscious environment, providing exposure to all aspects of the electrical and instrumentation trades.
What you'll do#
- Assist qualified tradespeople with daily maintenance and operations.
- Support troubleshooting and programming for distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Participate in the installation and maintenance of control equipment.
- Contribute to preventative maintenance, process improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 3-year Electrical, Controls and Technology program with good academic standing.
- High School Diploma.
- Availability for full-time work from September to December 2026.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous experience in pulp and paper or heavy industry is considered an asset.
