Continuous Improvement Student, Fall 2026

About the role#

The Continuous Improvement Student will support the Transportation and Logistics Division at J.D. Irving, Limited. This role focuses on driving business improvement initiatives across marine, railway, and trucking sectors, providing exposure to operational projects and digital transformation strategies.

What you'll do#

• Provide support to diverse companies within the Transportation and Logistics Division.
• Lead business improvement initiatives, including operational improvements, digital transformations, and revenue-generating projects.
• Create, manage, and communicate project documentation, including charters, action plans, and KPI tracking.
• Conduct internal and external benchmarking to enhance business processes.
• Analyze data to identify root cause issues and potential process improvements.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program, preferably in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Computer Engineering, with positive academic standing.
• Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel to offsite locations.
• Attention to detail, a sense of ownership, and a willingness to take on challenges.
• Experience with Power BI, Alteryx, Microsoft Apps, or Microsoft Automate is considered an asset.
