About the role#
This co-op position provides an opportunity to contribute to ship construction programs in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. You will work on key projects, build professional connections, and gain insight into a career at Irving Shipbuilding. The company will pay up to $1,000 in fees associated with your co-op term.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with production teams to address engineering challenges during the ship build.
- Review design elements of the ship alongside internal and external stakeholders.
- Support production teams in the execution of project schedules.
- Participate in issue management, including tracking and developing solutions.
- Propose and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Engineering degree program (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Aerospace, or Biomedical).
- 0 to 2 years of experience.
- Interest in the shipbuilding or defense industry.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and an openness to learning.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks with varying priorities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
