About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to contribute to the River-Class Destroyer project. You will work with our team in Dartmouth to support new construction programs and gain insight into a career at Irving Shipbuilding. We pay up to $1000 toward your co-op fees.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on design activities for Combat Systems.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to review ship design elements.
- Review engineering documentation for compliance with project requirements, classification rules, and shipyard standards.
- Assist in planning, preparing, and executing testing and commissioning activities.
- Participate in engineering change management across the design and construction lifecycle.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other documentation.
- Propose and participate in continuous improvement projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Engineering degree program.
- Between 0 and 2 years of experience.
- Interest in the shipbuilding or defense industry.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an openness to learning.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
