About the role#
As an Accuracy Control Engineering student, you will support laser scanning, point cloud processing, and distortion control analysis. You will work with Production Management, Accuracy Control Specialists, Welding Engineering, and Industrial Engineering teams to validate design intent and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. This role provides hands-on experience with engineering technologies in a shipbuilding environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform laser scanning of assemblies, structures, and components using portable metrology equipment.
- Process, register, and analyze point cloud data using appropriate software tools.
- Support the analysis of weld-induced distortion.
- Assist in developing corrective actions and design or process recommendations to reduce distortion.
- Participate in day-to-day Accuracy Control activities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent program.
- Familiarity with CAD tools.
- Experience or interest in point cloud processing or 3D data analysis.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Exposure to metrology, dimensional control, or manufacturing processes is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
Location & details#
- Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: Paid position with co-op fee reimbursement up to $1,000.
- Requirements: Successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
