About the role#
The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is seeking an advanced language student to serve as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Spanish. This role involves leading 50-minute drill sessions for first-year students to reinforce material introduced by the course instructor. The position is designed to help assistants gain experience in classroom management while providing support for students in small group settings.
What you'll do#
- Lead 50-minute drill sessions for groups of up to 13 students.
- Meet weekly with the course instructor to coordinate material and exercises.
- Organize and prepare all exercises for each session.
- Present drills and maintain an engaging classroom environment.
- Track attendance and report records to the course instructor as scheduled.
- Communicate any concerns to the course instructor or the program director.
What you'll need#
- Status as an advanced Spanish language student.
- Ability to organize and prepare educational exercises.
- Comfort working in a classroom setting.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail regarding attendance tracking.
