STUDENT-VIC Radio Station Manager ('26-'27)

About the role#

The VIC Radio Station Manager is a one-year leadership position overseeing all operational aspects of the station. This role involves guiding the management team, maintaining technical infrastructure, and fostering an inclusive environment for the station staff. The position begins in May 2026 following a training period and covers the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

What you'll do#

• Oversee daily operations and ensure the station meets its functional goals.
• Provide guidance, performance feedback, and support to the management team and department heads.
• Lead weekly meetings for management and DJ staff to discuss events, gather feedback, and track action items.
• Manage and troubleshoot station hardware and software to ensure consistent technical performance.
• Develop and implement station policies that promote productivity, fairness, and inclusivity.
• Collaborate with the General Manager on policy development, station events, and procurement.

What you'll need#

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent communication skills for facilitating meetings and eliciting staff feedback.
• Technical proficiency to troubleshoot and maintain radio software and hardware.
• A clear understanding of radio station operations and internal policies.
• Ability to work collaboratively across different departments.
• Pursuit of a degree in Communications or Media Studies is preferred.

• Location: Ithaca, New York.
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $16 per hour.
• Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and completion of I-9 eligibility requirements.
