About the role#
Unity Center Peer Educators work with professional staff to design and provide resources for the campus community. This role focuses on program coordination, marketing, and public speaking. You will facilitate conversations about identity, social change, diversity, equity, and justice while gaining professional experience in an office setting.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops for students regarding identity and social change.
- Create marketing materials and develop new initiatives to engage the campus.
- Provide office coverage, including greeting visitors, answering phones, data entry, and handling office logistics.
- Support the planning and execution of large-scale events like Heritage Months, Unity Center Hour, and other campus programs.
- Assist professional staff with existing projects and office scholarship programs.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in at least 12 credits.
- Demonstrate an understanding of campus resources and an investment in social change.
- Possess effective communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Maintain good academic and judicial standing.
- Show reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
- Understand professional social media etiquette.
- Preference is given to candidates who are 21 or older and hold a valid driver's license.
Location & details#
- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Pay: $16.00 per hour.
- Hours: 6-10 hours per week during the academic year, with potential for evening and weekend event support. Summer and winter opportunities may be available.
