About the role#
The Theatre Administration Assistant supports program faculty with practicum, box office, and front-of-house operations. This role is designed to provide experiential learning opportunities within the degree program. Successful applicants will undergo a performance review in late 2026 to determine continuation for the Spring 2027 semester.
What you'll do#
- Assist patrons with ticket purchases and resolve seating or ticketing issues.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies in cash, credit, and debit transactions.
- Learn and apply knowledge of front-of-house operations, including concessions, house management, and event policies.
- Maintain familiarity with production details, including show lengths, curtain times, and venue directions.
- Document and report any operational issues or policy deviations to faculty.
- Model professional behavior and attire at all times.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of at least two of the following courses: THEA 15000, THEA 15200, THEA 25100, or THEA 25101.
- Previous experience in a front-of-house or customer-facing role at a theatre or performing arts company.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patrons in person and over the phone.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and task management skills.
- A desire to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in person on campus.
Location & details#
- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Up to five hours per week, with additional hours at the discretion of the supervisor. Includes rotating weekday box office shifts and specific performance shifts in October, November, and December 2026.
- Compensation: Paid position at $16.15 per hour.
