STUDENT-Terrace Student Manager

About the role#

The Terrace Student Manager position provides an opportunity to gain professional experience within the Ithaca College dining environment. This role focuses on delivering high-quality customer service, managing shift operations, and ensuring the facility meets safety and sanitation standards. On-the-job training is provided.

What you'll do#

• Manage other student staff and oversee daily shift operations.
• Train new student workers on unit procedures.
• Set up and break down service lines for meal periods, including the management of utensils, condiments, and food containers.
• Replenish service lines from coolers, ovens, and hot boxes as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitor food quality by recording temperatures at required intervals.
• Assist guests by providing information on menu items, ingredients, and allergens.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and management.

What you'll need#

• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to multitask.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Effective communication skills to support team collaboration and guest inquiries.
• Ability to train and guide new staff members.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Enrollment in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Human Resources, Nutrition, Civil Engineering, Psychology, or Communications.
