About the role#
Ithaca College is hiring Teaching Assistants for its Summer Pre-College Programs. This role supports high school students participating in various academic courses on campus. TAs act as mentors and organizational support for faculty members while helping to manage the classroom environment. This is a paid, on-site position for the summer of 2025.
What you'll do#
- Assist faculty with lesson preparation, including setting up equipment, arranging classrooms, and managing materials.
- Lead discussion groups and oversee projects, providing additional support to students who need extra help or special accommodations.
- Track attendance and assist with grading assignments.
- Collaborate with faculty to address student concerns or behavioral issues.
- Reinforce course rules and serve as a role model for participants.
- Help guide students as they move between different campus locations.
What you'll need#
- A genuine interest in working with a diverse group of students in a learning environment.
- Prior experience as a teaching assistant or working with youth in camp settings is preferred.
- A history of providing leadership to various age groups.
- The ability to foster community development through different methods.
- All candidates must consent to and pass a federal and state criminal history and sex offender background check.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Ithaca, New York.
- The program runs from July 13 to July 31, 2025, with preparation beginning around July 6.
- TAs work approximately 25 to 30 hours per week at an hourly rate of $16.00.
- This role requires physical presence on campus during weekdays, typically between 9am and 6pm.
