About the role#
The Special Event Manager role involves overseeing events planned by the Conference and Event Services office. This position requires independent work to ensure that event needs are met for faculty, students, and staff. You will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment and enforcing college policies regarding facility use.
What you'll do#
- Manage and oversee events coordinated by the Conference and Event Services office.
- Assist with event set-up and the provision of audio-visual services.
- Resolve on-site logistical issues as they arise during events.
- Support clients before and during their events to ensure requirements are met.
- Document and evaluate events to assist full-time staff with future planning.
- Coordinate services such as catering, parking, and security as requested.
- Utilize the 25Live scheduling system to access meeting and location information.
- Attend weekly meetings and training sessions throughout the semester.
What you'll need#
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of clients including faculty, students, and staff.
- Knowledge of event management logistics.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Communications, or Public Health.
