About the role#
The Retail Café Barista supports beverage preparation, food service, and guest experience within campus retail café locations. This position focuses on hospitality and quality service, providing students with experiential learning opportunities that develop transferable professional skills. No prior barista or food service experience is required, as full on-the-job training is provided.
What you'll do#
- Greet and serve guests with a professional demeanor.
- Prepare specialty beverages, sandwiches, and light menu items to order, including Grubhub orders.
- Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle transactions accurately.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients and allergens.
- Follow food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures, such as monitoring food temperatures.
- Keep workstations, counters, and dining areas clean, sanitized, and stocked.
- Assist with dining room setup and support inventory or stocking processes.
- Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth service.
What you'll need#
- Availability for a minimum of 3 scheduled shifts per week.
- Ability to multitask and communicate clearly in a busy environment.
- Capacity to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Willingness to follow all safety and sanitation policies, including wearing the required uniform, closed-toed shoes, and a hair covering.
- Ability to attend and complete periodic safety trainings.

- Compensation: $16 per hour.
