STUDENT- PPECS (Park Portable Equipment Center & Services) Counter Assistant

About the role#

The Park Portable Equipment Center & Services (PPECS) Counter Assistant role provides students with experiential learning opportunities within Ithaca College. This position involves managing the circulation of portable equipment for both students and faculty, ensuring that all resources are maintained, tracked, and ready for use.

What you'll do#

• Perform detailed inspections of portable equipment during both checkout and return processes.
• Conduct function checks and prepare daily equipment reservations.
• Monitor the database reservations program at the start of each shift to identify upcoming prep needs and late items.
• Prioritize faculty reservations for classroom support at the beginning of every shift.
• Prepare equipment up to 24 hours in advance, regardless of shift timing.
• Monitor the returns screen to issue notices for late equipment.
• Verify equipment numbers and contents against reservation records during patron pickups.
• Inspect shelf equipment during lulls in activity, ensuring contents match database lists.
• Report missing or damaged items to the Facilities or Technical Support Manager and document issues via the ticketing system.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in programs such as Business Administration, Operations Management, or Communications.
• Ability to perform detailed technical inspections and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Strong organizational skills to manage reservation databases and equipment prep schedules.
• Capability to identify and report equipment discrepancies or damage promptly.
