About the role#
The Office of New Student and Transition Programs seeks Orientation Leaders to support incoming students and their families during the transition to Ithaca College. This leadership role involves working with professional staff to coordinate and implement inclusive programs for Spring Orientation. You will serve as a resource for new students while developing your own leadership and communication skills.
What you'll do#
- Guide and welcome incoming students and their families to campus.
- Assist with event preparation, implementation, and escorting guests around campus.
- Participate in meals and scheduled evening or weekend activities.
- Facilitate small group discussions and activities for groups of 20-25 people.
- Educate incoming students on available academic, social, career, and mental health support services.
- Serve as a professional role model and provide feedback to supervisors regarding program events.
- Manage crisis situations and interact with campus partners.
- Apply anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices to foster an inclusive and respectful community.
What you'll need#
- Must have previously held the Fall Orientation Leader position at Ithaca College for at least one program.
- Maintain status as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student through May 2027.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in large, high-energy group settings and manage stress effectively.
- Proven work ethic, time management, and attention to detail.
- Experience working with people from diverse or traditionally marginalized populations.
- Ability to present yourself professionally to students, families, and campus partners.
- Adherence to all Office of New Student and Transition Programs policies and the Student Conduct Code.

- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.50 per hour.
- Training Dates: January 12 and 13, 2027.
- Orientation Dates: January 14 to 16, 2027.
- Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check.
