About the role#
The Athletics Department is seeking student lifeguards to ensure the safe and effective operation of the swimming pool, locker rooms, and deck areas. This role requires consistent attention to pool safety, enforcement of facility policies, and a commitment to maintaining high levels of physical and mental fitness. This is a paid, on-site position with rolling availability.
What you'll do#
- Supervise the swimming pool and surrounding areas to prevent accidents.
- Enforce all facility rules, regulations, and policies.
- Implement emergency action plans as needed.
- Monitor the pool from designated guarding stations and follow established rotation policies.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly to patrons.
- Maintain a high level of skill and fitness to perform all job duties effectively.
- Wear the required Ithaca College uniform during all shifts.
What you'll need#
- Current American Red Cross certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Training or Waterfront Lifeguarding certification.
- Ability to maintain all required lifeguarding certifications throughout employment.
- Ability to maintain a successful test-out level of knowledge and physical fitness.
- Preferred majors include Public Health, Kinesiology, or Biology.
