About the role#
The Department of Composition and Music Studies is hiring two student tutors for the Introduction to Music Studies (MUTH 11100) course for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a paid, part-time position requiring an average of 2 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Provide tutoring support for students enrolled in Introduction to Music Studies.
- Conduct one-on-one conferences with students.
- Maintain a consistent schedule of 1 hour per day, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday throughout the semester.
What you'll need#
- Outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by GPA.
- Demonstrated excellence in aural skills and music theory courses, with grades of A or A- in each course taken.
- Strong proficiency in music technology, specifically Canvas, Microsoft 365, Audacity, Spotify, and MuseScore.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, approachable, and responsible demeanor.
- Previous formal or informal experience teaching or tutoring music theory is suggested.
- Open to students majoring in Psychology, Art, or Media Studies.
