About the role#
The Department of Composition and Music Studies is hiring student tutors for the Introduction to Music Studies (MUTH 11100) course for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a paid, part-time position requiring an average of 2 hours of work per week. Ideal candidates possess a friendly and patient demeanor suitable for one-on-one conferences.
What you'll do#
- Provide tutoring support for students enrolled in Introduction to Music Studies.
- Commit to a consistent schedule of 1 hour per day, either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, throughout the semester.
What you'll need#
- Outstanding academic achievement as demonstrated by GPA.
- A or A- grades in all aural skills and music theory courses taken.
- Strong proficiency with music technology, specifically Canvas, Microsoft 365, Audacity, Spotify, and MuseScore.
- Excellent communication and listening skills.
- Prior formal or informal experience teaching or tutoring music theory is suggested.
- Students majoring in Psychology, Art, or Media Studies are encouraged to apply.
