About the role#
The Wellness Clinic at Ithaca College operates as a membership-based fitness center within the Center for Health Sciences. This Graduate Assistant position supports clinic operations and programming while providing practical experience for students. You will serve as a liaison between professional staff and student employees, helping to coordinate team activities and maintain operational standards. This role requires independent work on projects and a focus on clinic goals.
What you'll do#
- Manage day-to-day clinic operations and ensure adherence to established policies.
- Act as a primary contact between full-time staff and student employees to keep communication clear and operations smooth.
- Collaborate with full-time staff on research initiatives, long-term projects, and operational improvements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to student employees to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Lead training sessions for new staff members, including group exercise instructors and front desk personnel.
- Deliver presentations on best practices and clinic processes.
- Use fitness assessment tools and exercise programming software.
- Lead small group workshops, presentations, or sessions focused on exercise science, mental performance, or wellness.
- Facilitate group exercise classes or provide personal training services.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree and a current or previous Graduate Assistantship in Exercise Science.
- Enrollment in the Exercise Science Master’s program, specifically in the Human Performance or Mental Performance track.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, such as mentoring roles or team coordination.
- Previous work experience or training relevant to clinic operations, including areas like fitness programming, scheduling, administrative tasks, marketing, or professional communication.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, maintain confidentiality, and provide high-quality customer service.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
